Who Is Thomas O'Duffy?
(written in the third person)
When Thomas was 11 years old, he really wanted to learn Martial Arts and Hypnosis.
He was inspired to learn martial arts after watching Buck Rogers use Karate to fight 10 people at the same time. Hypnosis seemed to be a way he could use more of his own mind.
A few years later, Thomas realised that the local library would get him any books he wanted if he said they were for a school project. So he said he was doing a school project about hypnosis and ordered all the hypnosis books available in the county then started practicing what he learned on his friends and himself. Around this time, Thomas read an advert for an accelerated learning course that explained, if you learn how to learn, you will learn faster, like an investment in yourself. This led to Thomas setting out on a quest to find more things that were investments in oneself.
In 1995, Thomas wrote an essay and won a competition to represent the UK & Ireland in Tokyo, Japan at the GII Junior Summit (organised by the G8 Summit to gather youth ideas about about how Internet technologies could solve World problems). Thomas became the first person he knew to get Internet access. Once online, Thomas immediately started looking up information about hypnosis and then discovered NLP (which seemed to be the cleverest thing he had ever found to invest in himself) and became ultra-determined to master NLP.
A year later, Thomas went to University. At this time, all of the NLP Trainings were far too expensive (for an 18 year old studying business in Trinity) so Thomas read lots of books about NLP. And then... Thomas heard about an NLP Practitioner course in 1997 that was being run by Paul McKenna's company, McKenna Breen, led by the co-founder of NLP, Richard Bandler. Fortunately, Thomas O'Duffy's uncle was best friends with Paul McKenna and arranged for Thomas to get a place on the course.
With rather advanced internet skills for the time, Thomas then did a deal with Paul McKenna to run his website, and as part of this, he got to go to all the NLP Courses he wanted, so he went to loads. At first Thomas wanted to learn NLP to get more stuff done in less time, and when he discovered he could use NLP to completely change his experience of reality, he became ultra-fascinated. Over the next seven years, Thomas attended 50+ NLP Trainings all over the world.
Thomas never set out to become a coach (he simply wanted to use the skills for himself) though on various courses he found himself advising people who were Professional Coaches, which led him to working with several clients. He got some certificates that qualified him as an Advanced Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP (Licensed by The Society of NLP) and more in Design Human Engineering and Neuro Hypnotic Repatterning. From this basis, his interests branched into many related areas, such as healing, meditation, shamanism, accelerated learning, sushi and various approaches to personal development and productivity.
Now Thomas is in his early 30s. He has been fortunate enough to study and learn from numerous marvellous minds in the World of personal development, accelerated learning and business excellence including Esther & Jerry Hicks, Dr John DeMartini, Dr Robert Cialdini, Tony Buzan, Dr Thom Hartmann, and Robert Anton Wilson, Joseph Riggio and Dawn Cartwright. Thomas' personal development background is strongly complimented by his study of Internet Marketing and Technology Consulting. Thomas has participated in various interesting online projects, including founding Nation.1 which was later merged into TakingItGlobal (now the worlds largest online youth development community) and he has taught thousands of students how to study more effectively for their exams.
Thomas style of coaching is highly intuitive, creative and awareness driven. Thomas' NLP and coaching clients range from Lecturers To Executives, from Managers to Composers, from Artists to other coaches.
He occassionally writes for publications including Positive Life and The Professional, and has almost perfected his techniques for taking over the world the fun way.
